FIREWORKS over 3 MILE HARBOR 2024

The Fireworks Show is a three-decade long tradition  staged over Three Mile Harbor in East Hampton.  The fireworks almost faded into history, but in 2009, The Clamshell Foundation revived the popular event and has taken it over every year since. The fireworks is an important tradition in East Hampton and was one of our founders, Rossetti Perchick, favorite nights of the year. The event is entirely funded by public contributions from people just like you.

Great viewing locations include Maidstone Park, Sammy’s Beach, Gann Road, or any of the beaches off of Hands Creek Road and Springy Banks Road, as well as the head of 3 Mile Harbor. Watch via boat and anchor in 3 Mile Harbor. No matter where you view them, please remember to stay safe and clean up afterwards.

The Gruccis of New York will stage the fireworks production. They are a fifth-generation, family-owned and operated company on Long Island, New York.

(Rain date: Sunday, Sept. 10, 2023)

After impressive attendance at our Annual party last year, we decided to hold this years’ Annual party in September again.

Holding it in September will prevent our members who rent out their homes during the height of the season from becoming disenfranchised and allow them to attend this annual highlight of our HW member events.

Location: This year’s summer party will be held at the waterfront residence of Laurie and Peter Brickman at 5 South Pond Road. It’s a stunning location and we are very excited to see all of you and celebrate our community with you! Meet and mingle, enjoy great food and drinks, interact with the board, and delight in the company of your fellow members and neighbors!

SANDCASTLE CONTEST at Atlantic Avenue Beach

SANDCASTLE CONTEST at Atlantic Avenue Beach

With a concept formulated in 1991, the 1st Annual East Hampton Sand Castle Contest, took place on August 26, 1992 at the Atlantic Avenue Beach in Amagansett, NY. The mission of The Clamshell Foundation is to enrich the lives of the people of the East End by fostering education in health, cultural, and environmental fields of endeavor. The money raised is allocated to year round residents for scholarships, food banks and assistance to those in need.

Initially there weren’t any rules, but over the years it became clear that a few were needed. Such as only indigenous materials may be used in the final sand sculptor, no power tools are allowed and you can’t build in front of the Lifeguard stands or go into the dunes.

Groups were established so children weren’t competing against adults. The size of each group was limited to 6 so there wasn’t one person competing against a group of 20. From the very beginning $10 was charged for each group and it remains that way today with no charge for the spectators. It is one of our favorite days of the year and we hope to see you at the contest this year!
